Item A Comparative study of Machine and Human Translation(جامعة سبها, 2025) حليمة أبوبكر المهديItem A Dissertation Proposal Submitted to the Department of English in Fulfillment of the Requirements of the BA in Applied Linguistics Studies(جامعة سبها, 2020-01-08) علي, رويدةThe present study aims at investigating and describing the indirect speech act of threatening and the issue of misunderstanding these acts in the Libyan context. It attempts to find whether interactants in the Libyan society fail in delivering and interpreting this kind of speech acts. It also attempts at collocating the kind of strategies are being used to express or perform their acts of threatening. In addition, what factors are involved that have an effect on their performance and interpretation. Over and above, this study aims to figure out what makes a speaker threatens his interactant indirectly rather than directly. The current study targeted 6 subjects chosen randomly from the society that represent different genders and different ages. For the purpose of this study, data is collected through analytic and descriptive method known as DCT (discourse completion test). The study revealed that people in the Libyan society fail in delivering and interpreting indirect speech acts of threatening. This study also revealed that the social distance, relationship, power, and disposition of the interactants involved in the interaction are the most factors that affect the performance and interpretation of indirect speech act of threatening. Furthermore, it revealed that interactant consider using at least one politeness strategy when performing indirect threats. The amount of the politeness strategies used when performing indirect threats is the most occurring and important reason that leads to misunderstanding these acts.Item A Final Project Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirement for the degree of Bachelor in English Language with a focus on Translation studies(جامعة سبها, 2021-04-07) شانا, اصال; علي, رحمة; المحروقي, سعدةAbstract By Asal, Rahma Seada. Sebha University March 2018 The dictionary has traditionally been a widely used tool by Foreign Language students, both in their self-process of vocabulary acquisition and trying to understand a text. Bilingual electronic dictionary is one type of dictionaries that can not only be helpful for translation but also can be a tremendous tool to link a meaning to a form. This research aims to show how the use of bilingual ED can be effective and beneficial in developing vocabulary of secondary school students. To achieve the aim of this study, a questionnaire was given to 50 EFL secondary school students from 1st, 2nd and 3th years in some Sebha schools. The results of the study show that the use of bilingual ED is one of the good strategies that learners can use to able to disambiguate more words and recognizing (synonyms, antonyms, meaning of words, pronouncing words, spelling, etc.). This study will be concluded by offering suggestions about the use of such dictionaries to improve vocabulary for EFL secondary school students.Item Item A final project submitted in partial fulfillment the requirements for the degree of bachelor in English language with focus on translation studies(جامعة سبها, 2020-01-22) رزق الله , ليلى , أمينة , إلهام بابا , أحمدItem and their Bio-application. Ligand stabilized Iron Oxide Nanoparticles(2020-09-14) الصغير, صفاء; شبل, صالحةA study was conducted to prepare iron nanoparticles using chemical compounds reducing agent from sodium borohydride (NaBH4) and we note that the peak of the curve appears for samples at 200 to 350 at UV measurements. The preparation of iron nanoparticles using a plant extract of the plant (Teucrium appolines) by adding a reducing agent from (sodium borohydride NaBH4) was also studied, we note that the curve appears at 350 when measured in UV. We observe the stability of nanoparticles from 2 to 3 months from the results of ultraviolet analysis, and pH measurements have proven the stability of iron nanoparticles in alkaline and acidic medium, according to a biological study of iron nanoparticles that has proven effective against bacteria.Item Appling nitric acid and hydrochloric acid to be use in well stimulation processes(جامعة سبها, 2020) عمر, نجمة; عبدالسلام, آيةAcidizing involves pumping acid into a wellbore or geologic formation that is capable of producing oil and/or gas. It also focuses on the strategies applied by the translator to facilitate the translation in that respect. To achieve the goals of this study, the researchers used two instruments for data collection. These are a test and interviews. The sample of this study consisted of 6 translators specialists in translation. The results showed that some translator, majored in translation face problems in transferring the meaning of Libyan proverbs into the target language (English) because it is unlikely to find the exact equivalent in English due to cultural aspects. As regards the strategies the translator use in order to translate the Libyan proverbs, it was found that literal translation was their method. They try to get equivalent in standard Arabic then translate it into English language.Item CHALLENGES IN TRANSLATING THE ARABIC ABSOLUTE OBJECT AL-MAFOOL AL-MUTLAQ INTO ENGLISH AN ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURAL(جامعة سبها, 2025) إمدلله جمال عبدالحفيظItem CHALLENGES OF STUDYING ENGLISH LITERATURE AMONG EFL STUDENTS(جامعة سبها, 2025) سالم عبدالقادر الربيعيItem CHALLENGES OF SUBTITLING CULTURAL ELEMENTS OF ENGLISH FILMS FROM ENGLISH TO ARABIC(جامعة سبها, 2019-11-26) JHIM, EMANSubtitling is considered as one of the main translation methods in our modern day, but most of the translation students at University of Sebha aren't familiar with most of the cultural elements that occur in many American or British movies or in general, they don't have enough background of the entire cultural elements of the target language .Therefore, in this project I tend to investigate those challenges that face translators when it comes to subtitling the cultural elements.Item Characterization of activated carbon and its performance to treat produced water for water injection(جامعة سبها, 2020) عبدالله, محمود; أبوبكر, طهWater injection (water flooding) method used in oil recovery is where the water is injected out into the reservoir usually to increase the pressure. Before the water is injected into the reservoir there are many processes passes through it, one of the main process is the treatment. Water injection could be treated by many methods and different ways. In this search, activated carbon was used as a treatment substance for injection water. Its source was the date seeds, where this seed was converted to non-activated carbon physically and activated chemically. Three different volumes of activated carbon were used in the water treatment Operation, to obtain treated water samples of different sizes. A spontaneous imbibition test for sandstone core samples after saturated of crude oil. A spontaneous imbibition test consisting of three scenarios of treatment water by Activated Carbon with change temperature and compared with one scenario of Reservoir water (untreated). The spontaneous imbibition test was performed in this study at room temperature to oven temperature (45°C, 55°C, 70°C).
